  • Sweet but amply oaky, the whiskey is easy-drinking but also carries plenty of weight, a (slight) complaint I suggested last year, that the 10 year old was a little too innocuous. That’s not the case with this release, which is balanced on a pinpoint, its fruit, spice, and tannic wood notes all in balance.

  • Nose:

Killer nose. It's far richer than I remember last year's being. Delicious and sweet, it keeps me coming back in for more. Big mocha note plus honey, butterscotch pudding, raspberries, bruleed banana and a bit of rye spice.

  • Taste:

Moderate viscosity. Jammy raspberry and waxy apple meet tobacco, cornbread, banana pudding and honey.

  • Finish:

The finish leads with cinnamon and cracked pepper, which transitions into tobacco, butterscotch and banana.

  • Overall:

The best batch of JD 10 yet. Super sippable and well balanced. Delicious stuff.

  • Score:
