This is the 2025 release of High West Bourye, a blend of bourbon and rye whiskeys from the Park City, Utah-based distillery, High West. All whiskeys in the blend are at least 10 years old. The blend is made up of rye whiskey from MGP in Indiana distilled from a 95% rye, 5% malted barley mashbill; rye whiskey distilled by High West from a mashbill of 80% rye and 20% malted rye; bourbon distilled by MGP from a mashbill of 75% corn, 21% rye and 4% malted barley; bourbon distilled by MGP from a mashbill of 60% corn, 36% rye and 4% malted barley; and bourbon distilled by an undisclosed producer in Kentucky from a mashbill of 78% corn, 10% rye and 12% malted barley. While that last distillery is undisclosed, we will say the mashbill is one popularized by Heaven Hill. The finished product is bottled at 92 proof and has a suggested retail price of $124.99.

The nose delivers an extremely well balanced blend of sweetness and spice — it oscillates between the two profiles as you nose and altogether is deep, complex and lovely. Grassy character meets cinnamon rolls, clove, butterscotch, orange peel, blackberry and clove.
Moderate mouthfeel. About what you'd expect for 92 proof, perhaps a bit richer. Vanilla, butterscotch and crème brûlée mingle with cinnamon, gingerbread, sassafras, clove. Some dark fruits jump in as well, with cherry and plum. The age shows itself with leather and a bit of oak.
Medium finish with cherry, tobacco, cinnamon, clove, vanilla and tannin.
Dynamite bourye that is superbly balanced and absolutely delicious. Well done, High West.
