Hancock's President's Reserve Single Barrel Bourbon Whiskey is produced at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, by the Sazerac Company. It is made using Buffalo Trace's Mash Bill #2, a high-rye mash bill containing approximately 12% to 15% rye, and carries no age statement, though it is widely believed to be aged about eight years. Bottled at 44.45% ABV (88.9 proof), it typically retails for around $50.
Full of bold vanilla, dried fruit and sweet caramel, this Bourbon pops with spicy cinnamon, ginger and clove on the finish. Just a splash of water opens up more gorgeous vanilla and oak.
Notes of caramel and vanilla bean are without much nuance and when the baking spice arrives, it’s similarly muted. The most prominent note is actually one of honey dissolved in a dark tea which lingers into the medium-length finish with just a bit of rye spice.
