  • The proof of the whisky allows for the splendid spices to emerge such as nutmeg and cinnamon and finishes up with more dried fruits and hazelnut.

  • The reward is a thick caramel aroma and flavor, with mouthwatering spicy notes of clove, cassia bark and a hint of orange peel.

  • Very fine, but you have to enjoy gunflints. Not a peaceful Glenmorangie (yeah right).

  • I can see some finding the palate to bland or too sweet, but overall it is a superior whisky at an affordable price.

  • The whisky drinks with more heat than its abv would indicate, and water is more appropriate — and more helpful — here than on any of the above expressions. Even with a drop or two of water, it’s still a sherry-heavy beast. In a good way.

  • I think for the price it is really good whisky, and should not be overlooked. I would drink this both neat and in cocktails, as the price allows it and the flavors are bold enough for it. Without question, I would recommend giving The Lasanta 12 Year a try!

  • Pretty good until you get to the entirely unremarkable finish. That said, it's not bad, and competes with something like Balvenie Doublewood head on fairly well.

  • Nose:

Vanilla, toffee, light sulfur. Dates, figs, light syrupy Dole fruit syrup. Some stewed fruits.

  • Taste:

Medium mouth feel. Sweet toffee, sweet stewed fruits. Nice and jammy. Light sulfur. That Glenmorangie bitterness is back, but not as bad as the 10yr. Lots of rich sherry, and a reasonably mouth feel despite the lower proof.

  • Finish:

Short, not much going on here. Some fruits and toffee and then its gone.

  • Overall:

Pretty good until you get to the entirely unremarkable finish. That said, it's not bad, and competes with something like Balvenie Doublewood head on fairly well.
