  • Overall, this is my favorite kind of product from a stylistic standpoint. Wildly different than the base offering that comes under the Glenfiddich brand and shows what some unique casking can do. While it's a rollercoaster, certainly very interesting and full of flavor, it does stray a bit in the weeds. A reduction to the spirit-y ness and the overly spicy character could do wonders here, but at the end of the day we're still left with a very good Scotch, and one that's nothing short of interesting.

  • Nose:

Apples, pears, tobacco, raisin bread and a lovely cocoa note. Spirit forward and a touch on the hot side, but there's plenty of character. Peppery, interesting.

  • Taste:

Sweet on the palate, moderate mouth feel. Spicy, peppery, candied ginger from tip to tail. A touch of blackberry, some blueberry, some vanilla bean. Interesting, sort of zigs and zags.

  • Finish:

Long finish, a touch hot and spirit-y but packed with sherry character, candied ginger, stewed fruits, caramel and honey.
