Distilled and bottled by Glenfarclas, this 17yr release was distilled in 2004 and matured exclusively in sherry casks. Selected for the Netherlands market, it clocks in at 53.5% ABV and looks to be quite a treat. Let's dive in.

Stewed fruits, straw, honey, sour apple and a touch of fig. It's interesting in that it is malty, sweet, a touch tart, full of nutty sherry and also displays quite a bit of malt on the nose.
Medium mouthfeel on the palate. It's nutty and grassy, lots of caramel, peanut, stewed fruits, a touch of apples and pears and some interesting straw notes. I don't often get grassy notes from Scotch but that paired with the malt here is interesting.
Long finish, a touch ashy and mineral forward, nicely combining apples, honey, pears and more caramel notes.
Interesting, unique certainly, but a miss for me in terms of the great heights that well aged Glenfarclas can accomplish.
