  • I adore this. If I could buy a bottle of it every year for a normal price, I definitely would.

  • This year's release is a bit hotter than previous chapters of GTS, but it’s a fat, powerful, decadent bourbon that knows how to layer on sweetness and spice.

  • Nose:

Huge pepper on the nose, plus dark cherry, strong oak, brown sugar, crème brûlée and baking spice.

  • Taste:

The palate is rich, sticky, layered and viscous with tons of brown sugar, cherry, toffee and some barrel char. A pop of ethanol strikes; this year's is hot but oh so rich. Brown butter, molasses and baking spice.

  • Finish:

The finish — long, peppery and with a prickle of ethanol — delivers more syrupy cherry, black pepper and some char and tobacco for a rich, savory finish.

  • Overall:

This year's release is a bit hotter than previous chapters of GTS, but it’s a fat, powerful, decadent bourbon that knows how to layer on sweetness and spice.

  • Score:

    92
