  • As with other flavored expressions of Crown Royal, the guy in charge of doctoring the whisky has certainly done so with a heavy hand. The nose is redolent of caramel sauce, artificially hyper-sweetened — saccharine, really — with notes of vanilla and burnt sugar, dipping at times into notes of butterscotch.

  • Nose:

    Uber-sweet nose. Filled with caramel, marshmallow, cookie dough, butterscotch and a touch of youthful ethanol.

  • Taste:

    Moderate fairly syrupy mouthfeel. Toasted marshmallow, caramel.

  • Finish:

    Syrupy sweet finish — caramel meets chocolate syrup.

  • Overall:

    It’s uber-sweet, certainly better suited as a sugary party shots whisky than a neat sipper or cocktail base. It’s very sweet and young, but a fun bottle!
