  • The finish has hints of licorice and brown sugar with spicy touches of cinnamon and rye, and is nice and long. Outstanding.

  • Lingering dried spice and polished oak on the finish provide balance to the sweeter notes.

  • It has plenty of spice and balancing sweetness to give it the kind of kick you look for in a rye but smoothes out into a something you want to drink over and over with the sweetness.

  • The finish is medium to long and has a nice mint note that appears as the finish begins to fade. If you are a fan of Rye Whiskey, this is a bottle you will want on your bar!

  • My sample bottle was emptied well before my experience of this whiskey was, a rarity in a world where so many spirits wear their character on their sleeve.

  • Sugar and spice combo, lots of nougat and caramel sweetness with brown sugar on the side. The spice kicks in after and blends really well.

  • Nose:

Molasses. Caramel and vanilla followed by some light rye spice. This nose is surprisingly large and full bodied.

  • Taste:

Sugar and spice combo, lots of nougat and caramel sweetness with brown sugar on the side. The spice kicks in after and blends really well.

  • Finish:

Shorter than the single barrel but also less hot. Its still fairly hot but its delicious sugar bomb. Long and sweet.

  • Overall:

This is definitely a barely legal rye given the uncharacteristic sweetness. It drinks more like a bourbon. Its not a bad thing, its just interesting.
