The Bushmills Private Reserve Collection is a series of single malts with different cask finishes. This 10-year-old single malt Irish whiskey is first matured in bourbon barrels and oloroso sherry casks before finishing in Portuguese moscatel French oak hogsheads. Moscatel is an aromatic type of grape, and the Douro and Setubal Peninsula regions of Portugal are renowned for their fortified wines made from Moscatel. This whiskey was distilled on Feb. 4, 2013, and recasked on March 14, 2019. It has a suggested retail price of $59.99.

Pleasant, intricate, smooth nose. Plenty of buttery wine character is joined by notes of cinnamon, sourdough, tea, blueberry and waffle cone.
Moderate mouthfeel. This is delicious. It's plenty oaky with a big dose of tobacco, cinnamon and ginger. Waves of sweet, buttery wine character crash against the oakiness. The pour is rounded out by notes of honey, buttered French bread and a beautiful mushroom note. Sweet grape and a touch of wine must kick in toward the back palate.
Ultra-long finish. For about five to eight solid seconds, it's clean, and you think perhaps the sip is over. Then, a prickle of heat trickles down your throat, and flavors of tobacco, grape skin and that lovely, umami mushroom note erupt.
This is an awesome expression from Bushmills. It's deeply complex with an extremely cool finish. I adore this.
