Released from an outturn of just under 10,000 bottles, this release from Bunnahabhain was bottled after 11 years of aging in a Manzanilla wine cask at cask strength with no coloring or filtering.
This 11-year-old Islay single malt spent its entire maturation time in Manzanilla Sherry casks, and the nose has a good fruity character with notes of Christmas cake, fresh berries, salted caramel, and a touch of oak.

House Review
Nose:
Sweet cream, honey, praline, pungent creme brulee. The sherry character is sweet, butterscotch forward and quite nutty. Dessert on the nose for days.
Taste:
Medium mouth feel. A hint of ethanol, but very little. Sweet praline, werthers caramel, light maltiness. Great pepper component offsetting the sweetness, with a hint of oak. Sweet, complex, enticing.
Finish:
Long finish. Caramel, light red berries, a bit of wine sweetness and some more praline / cinnamon / brown sugar.
Overall:
Fascinating influence from the manzanilla here, revealing a moderately sherried release that hits all the right notes.
Score:
92
