Bulleit 20-Year-Old Rye is a straight rye whiskey distilled in Lawrenceburg, Indiana at MGP and aged for two decades in Kentucky warehouses. It uses Bulleit's signature 95% rye and 5% malted barley mashbill, with barrels selected and blended by Nicole Austin, Director of American Whiskey Liquid Development at Diageo. It is bottled at cask strength, 68.5% ABV (137 proof), and sells for $299 in a limited run of 1,776 individually numbered bottles.
The palate immediately announces the proof with a quick rush of ethanol before Indiana dill takes over. Grilled peaches follow, though they resemble canned peach slices cooked over charcoal more than fresh peaches, combining juicy sweetness with smoky charring.
If you’re looking for a truly intense, high-proof, ultra-aged rye whiskey experience, this is the bottle for you. But if you’re just looking for something to make your next Manhattan with, stick to the 90-proof original.
