  • I have no real complaints, it’s good. The sweetnesses, the spices, the whole thing just works and the balance is great as is the complexity; I feel like I’m picking up new nuances each time I visit the glass.

  • The finish offers cedar wood, sawdust, menthol, spearmint, and vanilla, leaving a lasting impression as a bold, fiery bourbon. Proofed down with water, milk chocolate and cocoa power round out some rough edges.

  • Batch 30 shows us that not only does Barrell still have a lot of magic left inside the walls their Gilmore Facility by being able to transform a questionable whiskey into the star of the show.

  • Great qualities here - a touch off the beaten path for some recent profiles we've seen from Barrell, and I'm into it. It's like apple pie and butterscotch glaze in a dram, and the Tennessee component respects the qualities of the other ingredients for a delicious dram.

  • Nose:

Toffee forward, buttery , loaded with flavor and dessert character. Ethanol hides despite the hefty proof.

  • Taste:

Apple pie, brown butter, toffee and cinnamon. Sweet, a touch of minerality, nice oak structure and a creamy custard profile. Great mouthfeel, not terribly hot. Fruity and fun. Touch of banana, apple pie reigns supreme, nice orange peel.

  • Finish:

Long finish, great viscosity carries through the finish without drinking like hell let loose. Sweet cream, toffee, butterscotch and apple pie notes carry nicely for a winner of a dram.

  • Overall:

Great qualities here - a touch off the beaten path for some recent profiles we've seen from Barrell, and I'm into it. It's like apple pie and butterscotch glaze in a dram, and the Tennessee component respects the qualities of the other ingredients for a delicious dram.
