Released in August 2026, Lochs of Jura Barrel Finish is a limited-time offering from Bardstown Bourbon Co. Ahead of its release, this whiskey garnered attention thanks to a 99-point score at the International Wine & Spirit Competition. Lochs of Jura is a blend of 49% 11-year-old Indiana bourbon distilled from a mashbill of 75% corn, 21% rye and 4% malted barley; 30% 10-year-old Indiana rye whiskey distilled from a mashbill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley; and 21% 12-year-old Kentucky bourbon distilled from a mashbill of 75% corn, 13% rye and 12% malted barley. The blend was finished for 32 months in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks that were used to age Scotch whisky. The final product is bottled at 104 proof (52% ABV) and retails for $139.99.

The nose is pleasantly complicated, with brash, herbaceous baking spice (dill, clove, nutmeg) backed by smoky, maritime aromas and some soft sweetness, plus cherry and plum.
Silky smooth viscosity. A beautiful profile of cherry and crème brûlée emerge first, quickly followed by a lightly dry, smoky and salty flavor that contrasts with and complements the sweeter notes nicely. The back end turns spicier, with clove, cinnamon, paprika and peppermint coming through.
The finish opens with clove, dill, sassafras and sage, gradually turning sweeter — vanilla frosting, cherry danish, brown sugar, blackberry compote — before veering spicier once again with spearmint, cinnamon and more clove.
A rollercoaster of a whiskey in the best way. The scotch influence is prominent but not at all overbearing, and it integrates with the spice of the rye component in an interesting way that works phenomenally. The sweet rich notes of the bourbon have room to shine, and they're complemented by spice and smoke. This is a total success by Bardstown Bourbon Co. that nails the sweet spot of a whiskey that's a complex sip yet totally enjoyable — no easy feat. It is a bottle I look forward to regularly returning to.
