Ballyhoo Irish Whiskey is a single grain Irish whiskey produced by The Connacht Whiskey Company at Connacht Distillery in Ballina, County Mayo, on the west coast of Ireland. It is sourced from an undisclosed distillery with a mash bill of 93% French-imported corn and 7% malted barley, aged four years in ex-bourbon barrels, then finished for three to six months in used port barrels from Portugal. It is hand-bottled at 43% ABV and retails for around $30 per 750ml.

  • On the palate, the whiskey is quite gentle, its sweet cereal notes giving way to crusty bread, with light lemon peel notes emerging on the finish.

  • The palate is easy to understand with lots of vanilla, dry smoke, and banana taffy as the finish peters out.
