  • I don’t really like how Balcones states that they keep it young to preserve the flavor of the blue corn. Then, they charge a premium for a very, very young whisky that doesn’t have much going for it other than an in your face youth flavor profile that not many whiskey drinkers actually enjoy.

  • Overall, it’s still not my favorite whiskey in the world, but Baby Blue is, at present, the best it’s ever been.

  • The palate is thick with apples, cream, and baked spiced butter. Finishes moderately with another hit of bananas foster alongside vanilla.

  • I enjoy the warm, almost nutty corn and vanilla aspect that flows through it. While it’s not complex it is tasty and well composed.

  •  I really enjoyed the nose, the palate was good and the finish wasn’t bad. That’s saying a lot here in Craft Whiskey Land

  •  The palate is hot, dry, and somewhat ashy, with billowing smoke, tobacco leaf, and nuttiness, undercut by lime and orange oil.

  • Nose:

Sweet rich cream. Nice vanilla. Muted corn. Not much else here.

  • Taste:

Corn, caramel, odd vitamin note. Some cocoa, light oak, pepper. Weird fruity notes. Thin, no real heat. Sort of musty.

  • Finish:

Short, no real heat here. Tastes like shredded wheat cereal, faint oak, some vanilla.

  • Overall:

This isn't terrible, the nose is the best part, though. From there its down hill. I'm going to give this a 4, though. I really enjoyed the nose, the palate was good and the finish wasn't bad. That's saying a lot here in Craft Whiskey Land
