  • I do catch a healthy squeeze of orange oil early on as the body builds, but it’s fleeting, providing a quick burst of sweetness that, tragically, fades before you really have the chance to grab hold.

  • Did they tell anyone where the rum casks were coming from? It’s okay, it’s just very forgettable in my book, or just whisky for flippers. What was that again?

  • The taste is smoky and tart with lime, lemon, grilled pineapple, and sweet barbecue smoke that fades to reveal hints of brine and dried flowers.

  • The palate is oily, with chocolate, earl grey tea, canned peaches, incense smoke, asphalt, leather, oak, and black pepper.

  • Total peat bomb. It's a bit thin, and a bit hot, but I expect that to pair with what I assume is very relative youth as well.

  • Nose:

Big hit of sweet cream, lime, soap stone, ash and sea air. Fainy iodine, mostly ashy and burning wood. Minerality is real nice.

  • Taste:

Thin, hot, loaded with ash and smoke. Bready, yeasty, fresh baked cake. Musty, some ash, a bit hot overall.

  • Finish:

Short, very very ashy, loads of smoke, increasing heat.

  • Overall:

Total peat bomb. It's a bit thin, and a bit hot, but I expect that to pair with what I assume is very relative youth as well.
