Akashi Japanese Blended Whisky is made at the White Oak Distillery located in Akashi in Japan's Hyogo prefecture. This non-age statement blend is aged around 3 years in ex-bourbon barrels before finishing in ex-sherry casks. It's bottled at 40% ABV and is considered an affordably-priced Japanese whisky option that retails for around $20.
The palate mimics the nose and comes across as young and spirity. There’s a weak malty character that arises while sipping on it, but it doesn’t manifest in a way that balances it out or adds any richness.
As you taste, the same notes are found and the whisky is soft and full on your palate. Though there isn't anything necessarily wrong with this whisky, there also doesn't really seem to be any point.
