Debuted in 2023, Aguasol is an additive-free tequila made at the much-beloved Cascahuin Distillery in the lowlands of Jalisco. The brand cooks its agaves in traditional brick ovens, extracts via roller mill and ferments in stainless steel tanks without fibers. Its reposado is aged for three months in American ex-bourbon barrels, and is sold inside a $55 bottle shaped in the likeness of a glass plastic water bottle.

The aroma offers a little bit of everything, both aged and unaged. Hints of vanilla, treacle, crème brûlée and flan make up the oaky side of the equation, while orange peel, slate and a nice hit of mint remind that this is very much an agave spirit, and one that only spent so many weeks in the barrel.
Kicks off with a great mouthfeel and plenty of vanilla custard. Flashes of black pepper, burnt marshmallow, apple pie spice and pear ease toward something a little more herbal on the backend.
Pangs of caramel, lemon balm and wet earth pick up on a short finish.
Totally approachable and just complex enough to impress, this Aguasol reposado knocks it out of the park and checks every box on the list for a lightly aged tequila. If you love yourself some vanilla and agave, it's time to add this to the bar cart.
