  • The palate features a nice balance between herbaceous spice and soft, sweet, toasted-oak-adjacent notes. Spice leads, with nutmeg, cinnamon, gingerbread and clove, plus sassafras and a bit of spearmint and pine. Sweet notes are meek in comparison to the brash spice, but they do come through with brown sugar and a touch of vanilla.

  • Nose:

The nose is spice-forward, with loads of clove, plus chili powder and dill, as well as a nice toasted marshmallow note that adds balancing sweetness.

  • Taste:

The palate features a nice balance between herbaceous spice and soft, sweet, toasted-oak-adjacent notes. Spice leads, with nutmeg, cinnamon, gingerbread and clove, plus sassafras and a bit of spearmint and pine. Sweet notes are meek in comparison to the brash spice, but they do come through with brown sugar and a touch of grilled mango that adds a welcome fruity dimension.

  • Finish:

The finish is pretty much purely a spice bomb: clove, sassafras, cardamom, cinnamon, ginger and mint. Right at the end it leaves you with a satisfying bit of dark chocolate.

  • Overall:

A very solid rye! It's tasty and uber-spicy. Drinks solidly neat and would be great in a cocktail. Strong value at $39.99.
