The 34 Top Whiskeys Released in February 2024
February may be the shortest month of the year (even if we got an extra Leap Year day this time around), but it tends to be a fairly busy month for whiskey releases nevertheless as many brands patiently waited through Dry January to announce their new expressions.
This February was somewhere in between tame and ultra-exciting, with 34 new notable whiskey releases.

34. Hard Truth Distilling Introduces First 3 Homemade Bourbons

The Nashville, Indiana-based Hard Truth Distilling Co. released its first three homemade bourbons: Hard Truth Sweet Mash Bourbon, Hard Truth Sweet Mash Wheated Bourbon and Hard Truth Sweet Mash Four Grain Bourbon.
The three bourbons join Sweet Mash Rye and High Road Rye in the Hard Truth long-term lineup.

33. Popular Utah Distillery High West Just Dropped Its First Bottled In Bond Expression, a Rye Whiskey

High West Whiskey, the Utah-based distillery, released its first Bottled In Bond whiskey on Feb. 2. The expression is a straight rye whiskey made from a mashbill of 80% rye and 20% malted rye and aged for four years.
High West Bottled In Bond Straight Rye Whiskey has a suggested retail price of $79.99 and is available for purchase online here (where it can ship to Kentucky, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Hampshire and Washington, D.C.) and at liquor stores across the U.S.

32. Compass Box Releases Coveted ‘Hedonism’ Expression in Celebration of Whisky, Art and Female Empowerment

Compass Box announced the return of one of the whiskies that started it all for the brand: Hedonism. The blended scotch whisky with a suggested retail price of $150 is the first in its category to feature a female form on its label. Though Hedonism will no longer be a part of the brand’s core portfolio and become a limited release, Compass Box decided to shake things up and start an annual collaboration with a different female artist so no two vintages are the same.

31. Garrison Brothers Releases 4th Edition of Guadalupe Bourbon Finished in Port Casks

Garrison Brothers, Texas’ first legal bourbon distillery, released the fourth edition of its Guadalupe Bourbon this month.
The port-finished bourbon debuted at the distillery on Feb. 3 and reached national markets by the end of the month. Ten thousand and five hundred bottles of the Texas straight bourbon were made available.
This limited-edition bourbon is bottled at 107 proof and distilled from a sweet mash of Texas-grown grains: No. 1 food-grade corn, soft red winter wheat and barley. It has a suggested retail price of $149.99.

30. Jack Daniel’s Unveils 2024 Releases of 12 and 10 Year Old Expressions

Jack Daniel’s announced the latest releases of its 10- and 12-year-old Tennessee whiskey expressions. These are the newest launches in the Jack Daniel’s Aged Series, which launched in 2021.
This is the second release of Jack Daniel’s 12 Year Old and third of Jack Daniel’s 10 Year Old. Both whiskeys underwent Jack Daniel’s signature charcoal mellowing process before being aged in new, toasted and charred American white oak barrels, first in the upper floors of Jack Daniel’s rickhouse before being moved to lower levels.
Jack Daniel’s 12 Year Old Tennessee Whiskey Batch 2 is bottled at 107 proof, while the 10-year expression is presented at 97 proof.

29. A Happy Accident Led to the Creation of 2024’s First Westward Whiskey Club Release: Vienna Malt

Westward Whiskey, the Portland, Oregon-based distillery known for its American single malts, announced the first Westward Whiskey Club release of 2024: Westward Whiskey Vienna Malt.
This whiskey arose from an error. Westward’s grain supplier mistakenly delivered two-row Vienna malted barley to the distillery instead of its usual two-row pale. Westward decided to roll with the punches and give the new barley a shot, and this whiskey is the result.

28. After a $233 Million Investment, Lost Islay Icon Port Ellen Distillery Returns With a Pair of 44-Year-Old Whiskies

After a £185 million ($233 million) investment from Diageo, Port Ellen is set to re-open. To commemorate this historic milestone, the brand announced that it is releasing Port Ellen Gemini — a set of two scotch whiskies priced at £45,000 ($56,688).
Gemini is a rare set of 44-year-old scotch whiskies, of which just 274 bottles are available. The set comprises Port Ellen Gemini Original and Port Ellen Gemini Remnant.

27. The Glenlivet Marks 200th Anniversary With ‘Category-First Innovation’ Appealing to Bourbon, Scotch and Rum Drinkers

The Glenlivet unveiled a new addition to its portfolio: The Glenlivet Rum and Bourbon Fusion Cask Selection. The expression was made from The Glenlivet’s single malt finished in custom casks, made from disassembled rum and bourbon barrel casks.
The custom casks were created from first-fill rum and bourbon barrels. The barrels were taken apart and reassembled into one finishing cask, featuring disassembled heads and tails of rum and bourbon casks. The brand claims the finishing cask “elevates The Glenlivet’s signature fruity house style.”

26. Bruichladdich Unveils ‘Luxury Redefined’ Series, Including a $2,000 Whisky From a Lost Era

the Islay scotch whisky distillery Bruichladdich unveiled two expressions, aged for 18 and 30 years, as part of its Luxury Redefined Series. The 30-year-old expression contains whisky from a time when Bruichladdich lay dormant from 1994 to 2001. The expression hosts a price tag of $1,999.99. The 18-year-old single malt is the first Bruichladdich whisky to carry that age statement.
Both scotch whiskies are housed in “fully compostable” secondary packaging made from Colourform paper pulp, which the brand claims reduces its carbon footprint.

25. Bulleit Ventures Into ‘Exciting New Category Set to Make Waves’ With American Single Malt Whiskey Release

Bulleit Frontier Whiskey is entering the red-hot American Single Malt category with its latest release. The whiskey is distilled from a mashbill of 100% malted barley and is a permanent addition to Bulleit’s core portfolio.
The whiskey clocks in at 90 proof and has a suggested retail price of $59.99 per 750-milliliter bottle. Bulleit American Single Malt is available across the U.S. and for in-person purchase at the Bulleit visitor experience in Shelbyville, Kentucky.

24. Woodford Reserve Dropped the Latest Limited-Edition Bourbon in its Popular Batch Proof Series

Woodford Reserve announced the release of Woodford Reserve Batch Proof 121.2. The expression hosts a suggested retail price of $149.99 and is now available in limited quantities in select markets within the U.S. and at Woodford’s distillery.
2024’s Batch Proof bourbon is bottled at 121.2 proof — higher as always than Woodford Reserve’s standard 90.4 proof.

23. Westland Solum, a Peated American Single Malt, Returns

Westland Distillery brought back its popular Westland Solum American Single Malt. Westland describes Solum as a whiskey with “a sense of place.”
Westland Solum American Single Malt Whiskey hosts an ABV of 50% and a suggested retail price of $149.99. The whiskey was released in Washington on Feb. 10 and rolled out throughout the U.S. later in the month.

22. Chattanooga Whiskey Continues Barrel Finishing Series With an Expression Celebrating Portugal’s Terroir

Chattanooga Whiskey released a new expression within its Barrel Finishing Series: a bourbon finished in white port casks. The limited-edition series released its inaugural expression in 2021, and Chattanooga Whiskey White Port Cask Finished marks the fourth installment in the rollout.
Chattanooga Whiskey White Port Cask hosts a suggested retail price of $59.99 per 750-milliliter bottle. The whiskey is bottled at 94 proof and was drawn from a batch of 6-10 barrels. The brand describes this whiskey as possessing tasting notes of white peach, tropical coconut, shortbread and orange marmalade on the finish.

21. Independent Bottler High n’ Wicked Releases Irish Whiskey Finished in Foursquare Rum Casks

the American independent whiskey importer and bottler High n’ Wicked announced its latest singular limited release: a single grain Irish whiskey finished in Foursquare Rum Distillery barrels.
The whiskey is distilled from an unusual mashbill composed of 95% corn (French maize) and 5% malted barley. The whiskey was initially aged in ex-bourbon barrels and then finished for six months in casks that previously held Foursquare’s award-winning “Mark X 2007” Barbados Rum.

20. Heaven’s Door Kicks Off ‘Exploration Series’ With a Delicious Bourbon Finished in Apple Brandy Casks

Heaven’s Door, the whiskey brand founded by Bob Dylan, announced a new whiskey collection: The Exploration Series.
Led by Heaven’s Door Master Distiller Ken Pierce and Master Blender Alex Moore, The Exploration Series will experiment with different finishing techniques and debuts with Exploration Series I – Calvados Finish.

19. Maker’s Mark Just Released an Exclusive Whiskey, and It’s Only Available in Portugal

Maker’s Mark released a new Wood Finishing City Series bourbon celebrating Singapore. The duty-free-exclusive release is available exclusively via Lotte Duty Free at Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 4 and hosts a suggested retail price of S $132 ($95).
To celebrate the launch, a bespoke pop-up tasting was featured at the airport until Feb. 29.

18. Breckenridge Distillery and Brewery’s Annual ‘Sexy Motor Oil’ Whiskey and Beer Collab Returns

On Feb. 14, Breckenridge Distillery released Sexy Motor Oil whiskey, a bourbon finished in beer barrels sourced from Breckenridge Brewery, which released a beer counterpart, an imperial oatmeal stout beer aged in Breckenridge Distillery bourbon barrels. A new iteration of this beer and bourbon release each Valentine’s Day.

17. Great Jones Taps New York Winery for Cabernet Franc-Finished Whiskey Release

the New York whiskey brand, Great Jones Distilling Co., announced the release of a whiskey in collaboration with Wölffer Estate Vineyard. Wölfer is a vineyard based out of the Hamptons, particularly known for its rosés.
The bourbon is a blend of 4- to 7-year-old bourbon. Sixty percent of the blend was finished for over a year in the winery’s Cabernet Franc Barrique barrels. The bottle hosts a suggested retail price of $49.99 and clocks in at 88 proof.

16. Baseball Meets Bourbon as Cal Ripken Jr. and His Brother Unveil Their Custom Maker’s Mark Blend

National Baseball Hall of Famer Cal Ripken Jr. and his brother, former MLB infielder Bill Ripken, teamed up with Maker’s Mark to select their very own blended bourbon.
About 248 bottles of the bourbon — named The Ripken Blend Private Selection — will be available. Each bottle is autographed by both of the Ripken brothers.

The Macallan announced the second edition of The Macallan Home Collection, River Spey. This year’s release is part of a collaboration with the artist Michelle Lucking, and the whisky celebrates The River Spey, which flows through The Macallan’s property.

14. Buffalo Trace Joins Forces With Popular Convenience Store Chain Casey’s to Release a Rare Bourbon Exclusively to This State

Casey’s, the convenience store and pizza chain, has joined forces with Buffalo Trace for the third year in a row, to select a barrel of bourbon. Customers can find a limited quantity of Buffalo Trace Single Barrel Select Bourbon at 73 stores within Illinois. The 375-milliliter bottles are part of the store’s plan to “innovate its beer, wine and spirits offerings.”

13. Still Austin Released a Bottled in Bond Rye Whiskey, and We Tasted it

The Austin, Texas-based distillery, Still Austin, announced the fourth and final release in its seasonal Bottled in Bond series: Straight Rye Whiskey.
The first rye in the series, this spring release is distilled exclusively from Texas rye. Per Bottled in Bond regulations, it’s been aged at least four years and bottled at 100 proof.
With a suggested retail price of $79.99, Still Austin Bottled in Bond Straight Rye Whiskey released in Still Austin’s tasting room in February and will roll out to select retail locations and become obtainable online in March.

12. J. Rieger & Co. Releases ‘Fielder’s Choice’ Whiskey Collection in Collaboration With Negro Leagues Baseball Museum

The Kansas City, Missouri distillery J. Rieger & Co. teamed up with the Kansas City-based Negro Leagues Baseball Museum to release a collection of four whiskeys: the Fielder’s Choice Collection.
Each expression in the collection is named for a different Negro Leagues team, sports a collectible label design and comes in a custom box set. A portion of all sales from the collection will benefit the museum, which is the world’s only national museum dedicated to preserving the history of Black baseball and its impact on the U.S.

11. Benriach Unveils ‘Exceptionally Rare’ Quarter-Century-Old Scotch Whisky

Benriach released a new travel-retail exclusive expression — and it’s a quarter-century old. Just 1,000 9-liter cases are available for this release from the Brown-Forman-Owned brand. The spirit has a suggested retail price of $380.
The whisky is triple distilled and was blended from batches aged in Bourbon, Virgin Oak and Oloroso Sherry casks. Benriach describes the pour as possessing a nose of “sticky toffee walnuts” and “manuka honey,” coupled with a palate of “warming oak spice and fine soft leather, supporting flavors of nectarine and oloroso sherry.”

Evan Williams announced the 2024 release of its limited-edition bourbon that honors the Kentucky Derby. actor Matthew Lillard (“Five Nights at Freddy’s,” “Scream”) and Find Familiar Spirits unveiled the second installment within the company’s Dungeons & Dragons-themed whiskey brand, Quest’s End. The second expression, Rogue, debuted Feb. 29 for the price of $149.99 on the brand’s website.
Rogue is a blend of small-batch bourbons from Kentucky and Indiana aged at least four years and bottled at 49.15% ABV.

3. Midleton Celebrates 40th Anniversary With Blend of Irish Whiskeys that Costs Over $20K

Midleton Very Rare is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a limited-edition blend of single-grain Irish whiskey featuring whiskey stocks up to 40 years old. The whiskey hosts a suggested retail price of £17,120 ($21,612).
The Very Rare 40th Anniversary Ruby Edition has an ABV of 53.1% and is available in the U.S., U.K., Ireland, Australia, Hong Kong, Persian Gulf, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, The Netherlands and at Global Travel Retail outlets.

2. Beloved Whiskey Brand Michter’s Announces Return of Barrel Strength Rye

Michter’s, the popular Louisville, Kentucky distillery, announced that it is releasing its US*1 Barrel Strength Kentucky Straight Rye expression for the first time since 2022.
Michter’s US*1 Barrel Strength Rye is a single-barrel release. The average proof of the barrels in the 2024 release is 110.2 proof, according to the brand.

1. Bushmills Just Released Oldest, Rarest Whiskey It Has Ever Sold in Europe — and Just 208 Bottles Exist

Bushmills unveiled a limited-release single malt with a 36-year-old age statement, and just 208 bottles are available. Bushmills Hill Street Edition is the oldest whiskey that Bushmills — the oldest licensed whiskey distillery in the world — has ever be released in Europe. It hosts a suggested retail price of £5,000 ($6,311).
The whiskey was distilled in 1986 and re-casked in a sherry hogshead in March 2001. The brand’s master distiller, Alex Thomas, claims the extending aging time provides the spirit with a “rich golden chestnut color.”
