Old Forester Announces Highly Coveted 2023 Birthday Bourbon Release — Here’s How You Can Enter for a Chance to Buy a Bottle

Louisville, Kentucky-based whiskey producer Old Forester announced the 2023 release of its renowned Birthday Bourbon.
Old Forester Birthday Bourbon is a rare, highly sought-after whiskey released in limited quantities each year to celebrate Old Forester founder George Garvin Brown’s birthday.
Birthday Bourbon is Old Forester’s rarest and most coveted bourbon. Traditionally, Old Forester has made Birthday Bourbon available at the distillery on Sept. 2. Last year, for the first time, Old Forester did away with that tradition, instead making the expression available beyond Kentucky for the first time.
Old Forester repeated that choice this year, making Birthday Bourbon available at the Old Forester Distillery in Louisville via a national sweepstakes that ran Aug. 24 through Aug. 31 — but not available Sept. 2.
Those who won the sweepstakes earned the right to buy a bottle at its suggested retail price — $169.99, a $20 increase from last year. Sweepstakes winners were chosen on Sept. 2, and bottles will be available for pickup between Sept. 8 and Dec. 23, giving out-of-town winners plenty of time to plan a trip to Kentucky.
Old Forester 2023 Birthday Bourbon carries a 12-year age statement. Bottled at 96 proof, 103 barrels of 2023 Birthday Bourbon were filled May 5, 2011, and aged on the fifth floor of Old Forester’s Warehouse I.
