Kendall Jenner’s 818 Tequila announced Thursday that it’s marking National Tequila Day with the return of its “Shake Up the Classics” campaign, this time in collaboration with Grammy-winning country artist Chris Stapleton.

The campaign is centered around a new cocktail, the Calabasas Cowboy, which the brands describe as a tequila-based twist on the classic Gold Rush (although the recipe calls for simple syrup, not honey, making it more of a riff on a whiskey sour). The drink blends Jenner’s 818 Tequila with Stapleton’s Traveller Whiskey, which is produced by Buffalo Trace.

Starting Thursday, the Calabasas Cowboy will be available at Desert 5 Spot locations in Los Angeles and Brooklyn for a limited time. Consumers can also purchase the Calabasas Cowboy Cocktail Kit online at VistaWineSpirits. Priced at $69.99 plus tax, the kit includes both spirits, Viski glassware, a recipe card and branded merchandise — available while supplies last.

“I’ve been a huge fan of Chris and his music for years now, so getting to team up for National Tequila Day was such an honor,” Jenner said in a news release. “We had the best time reimagining classic whiskey cocktails with 818 Tequila and Traveller Whiskey. The Calabasas Cowboy is a fun twist on a classic Gold Rush, and I hope everyone has as much fun making it at home as we did making it on set.”

The collaboration taps into country music’s rising popularity among Gen Z and highlights tequila’s flexibility as a cocktail base.

818 Tequila launched its “Shake Up the Classics” campaign in previous years by promoting nontraditional tequila pairings. This marks the first time the campaign has featured a crossover with a whiskey brand.
