Michter's US*1 Toasted Barrel Finish Bourbon is distilled and bottled in Kentucky. It is aged initially in fire-charred new American white oak barrels, then finished in a second custom barrel made from 18-month air-dried wood that is toasted.
Complex mouth: corn pudding, cornmeal, sugar cookies, caramel, pawpaw, jackfruit, and a real creaminess that stretches into the finish…where we get the delayed oak. Mature whiskey smooth, young whiskey lively, and a good price, too.
This wasn't bad, but it did surprise me in its difference in palate from other bottles of Michter’s I’ve had. If you are a tremendous Michter's loyalist or simply have lots of patience for editions that only come out every few years, you'll likely love this.
