The New York Post reported on Sunday that a man in Indiana stole a liquor truck from a parking lot worth $50,000 with $12,000 worth of beer and liquor on board to pay off his drug debts. Beau Burchel, 39, admitted to committing the crime.

He spotted the liquor truck pulling up to the Cheers Bar in Muncie, Indiana. He decided to steal it and claimed he planned to offload the liquor on it to help him pay off drug debts.

Authorities found that the truck was damaged after Burchel attempted to remove the camera and GPS. The liquor and beer remained in the vehicle when authorities found the truck, which was sitting in a cornfield after it had been reported stolen.

Along with the truck, authorities also found a skid steer loader worth about $60,000.

The police spotted “Burchel’s ponytail waving in the wind,” according to The New York Post, and began to chase him on foot.

Burchel ran from the cornfield into the forest at the perimeter of the field. He was discovered hiding in a forest by authorities and was arrested and charged with several counts of felony theft. He New York Post reported he was being held on $20,000 bond.

In April, authorities in Walnut Creek, California, discovered a drug lab to produce the psychedelic drug DMT. The individuals were burglary suspects and charged with grand theft, manufacturing and possessing a controlled substance. They were also accused of burglary and child endangerment, per court records.
