On Wednesday, Virginia Distillery Company, a pioneer of the American single malt category, announced a new range of whiskies that the brand says will be its new “house-brand” offerings.

The new Virginia Distillery Company American Single Malt Whisky collection features three single malts, each bottled at 93 proof and priced at $44.99: Port Cask Reserve, Cider Cask Finish and Cabernet Cask Select.

“Today marks a significant milestone for our company and the American Single Malt category,” Virginia Distillery Company CEO Gareth Moore said in a news release. “We continue to receive strong support from both the trade and consumers for American Single Malt, and our goal now is to expand the range of choices within our category to attract consumers from both bourbon and Single Malt Scotch.”

Each of the new whiskies is initially matured in first-fill ex-bourbon casks. Virginia Distillery Company Port Cask Reserve American Single Malt Whisky is finished in both tawny port casks from Portugal and port-style wine casks sourced from Virginia. The cider cask release, meanwhile, is finished in French calvados casks, Virginia cider barrels and Laird’s Apple Brandy barrels.

Finally, Virginia Distillery Company Cabernet Cask Select American Single Malt Whisky is finished in an assortment of cabernet casks, including barrels from France and California, according to the brand.

“The level of matured stocks we’ve reached has enabled us to introduce an entry-level priced product within the American Single Malt category, representing a significant development for our business,” Moore said. “We remain committed to leading the American Single Malt movement. This new house-brand will serve as the gateway to the American Single Malt category and will be showcased alongside our luxury brand, Courage & Conviction, allowing us to cater to a broad spectrum of consumer preferences and price points.”

The new collection from Virginia Distillery Co. can be ordered from the Virginia Distillery Co. online shop.

Virginia Distillery Co. is known for its popular Courage & Conviction lineup, a separate three-bottle lineup composed of single malts finished in bourbon, sherry and cuvée casks. The Courage & Conviction bottlings are priced around $80 each, so this new lineup slots in as a more everyday, affordable option.
