Sweet and fruity, it's like banana bread with strawberry jam. It's strange, but it works. It's enticing, interesting and caters to a sweet tooth (mine specifically). Pepper balances oakiness and more breadiness.
Moderate on the palate, there's a good deal of oak here, which works nicely given the sweetness. I tend to find JD releases fairly sweet, so the Oloroso compounds that character, but there's spice and pleasant tannin to round out the profile.
Medium to long finish loaded with peanut brittle, banana bread, red currant jam and raspberries, light pepper and hints of toffee.
Really distinctive release from Jack Daniels and one that I'm stoked exists. The Oloroso is jammy yet dry enough to not be overwhelming and is plenty complementary to Jack Daniel's base bourbon character.
