  • I imagine it will come across as a bit too bitter for some, but I enjoyed it immensely.

  • The Four Roses Limited Edition Small Batch 2022 showcases its age without coming across as too oaky, and that’s really a credit to Brent Elliott’s blending acumen.

  • A finely crafted blended bourbon that shows its age like few do, which will result in a decidedly divisive yet complex pour.

  • This is perhaps the most balanced of the recent Limited Editions from Four Roses, showing an impressive control over the nose, palate and finish from first sniff to final sip. Four Roses needs no fluffing to entice consumers with the demand of these releases, but of the last several years, this vintage is without a doubt the best.

  • Nose:

Spicy, sweet and rich at first. Candied ginger, orange peel, bold pepper and spice lead while sweet caramel, honey, vanilla bean and a touch of cream sweeten the deal.

  • Taste:

Rich on the palate, it's oaky and dry but not too tannic or bitter. Fans of bitter drying oak will need to shop elsewhere, but for fans of a dry, oak driven whiskey that maintains plenty of sweetness: it's showtime. Notes of honey, sweet orange, a touch of candied ginger, lovely caramel and nougat delight.

  • Finish:

Long finish, sweet and buttery at first, dry and satisfying on the way out. It's impressively long lived, blending sweet nougat with dry oak; spicy ginger and supple cream sweetness.

  • Overall:

This is perhaps the most balanced of the recent Limited Editions from Four Roses, showing an impressive control over the nose, palate and finish from first sniff to final sip. Four Roses needs no fluffing to entice consumers with the demand of these releases, but of the last several years, this vintage is without a doubt the best.
