Starward Fortis is a single malt whisky produced at the Starward Distillery in Port Melbourne, Australia. It is made from Australian malted barley and brewers' yeast, then matured in 100% American oak barrels previously used for Barossa Valley shiraz and cabernet wines. It is bottled at 50% ABV, non-chill filtered and carries no age statement.
It has a great body. High viscosity. Thick fluidity, as we call it. Immediately sweet, even some Jelly Beans, before the herbs make themselves heard. Something earthy like autumn leaves and mushrooms, supported by dark bread and cloves.
