Mammoth Distilling Northern Rye No. 02

Mammoth Northern Rye No. 2 is a blend of North American rye whiskeys led by 11% three-year-old Michigan Wheeler rye matured in first-use barrels with a No. 3 char. The blend also includes 21% 18-year-old Alberta rye finished in American oak Port-style wine barrels from 45 North Vineyard & Winery, 20% 18-year-old Alberta rye finished for five months in Estate Pinot Noir French oak barrels from Bonobo Winery, and 45% Alberta rye aged 15 to 18 years in second- and third-fill American oak casks. Bottled at 50% ABV, or 100 proof, the whiskey offers aromas of gingersnap and fig, according to the producer, followed by notes of strawberry jam, tobacco and grass, with a long finish featuring sweet challah bread, port and leather.
