Cedar Ridge The QuintEssential Pete & Sherri, Married 1st Anniversary is a limited-edition American single malt whiskey produced by Cedar Ridge Distillery in Iowa. Released in 2023 as part two of The QuintEssential Special Release series, the whiskey marries 6-year-old single malt finished in a first-fill amontillado sherry butt with 6-year-old peated malt matured in an ex-bourbon barrel. Made from 100% malted barley, it is bottled at natural cask strength of 118.1 proof (59.05% ABV), non-chill filtered and without added color.

  • Nose:

    No peat on the nose — the profile is malty and nutty and buttery. Massive Amontillado character. Nice butterscotch note.

  • Taste:

    Lovely viscosity. Rich palate. Amontillado profile on the palate. Dry tannin, charred peaches, singed orange peel, cinnamon, white pepper, nutmeg. Peat comes through a bit more rubbery and less smoky. Peat is even more subtle than the first edition.

  • Finish:

    The finish is long, gritty and ashy. Dry sherry influence comes through, and then that nutty/butterscotchy profile from the nose makes a gentle return.

  • Overall:

    A delicious malt. The Amontillado influence is heavy and works spectacularly alongside subtle peat.
