Cedar Ridge Pete & Sherri Married 2nd Anniversary is a limited-edition American single malt whiskey produced by Cedar Ridge Distillery in Swisher, Iowa. Part of the QuintEssential Special Release series, the whiskey blends peated and non-peated single malts aged between 6 and 10 years and is bottled at natural cask strength of 116.8 proof (58.4% ABV), non-chill filtered and without added color. The peated component is matured in ex-bourbon barrels before finishing in Amontillado sherry casks, while the non-peated malt is aged in ex-bourbon barrels and finished in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks, including a 10-year-old Oloroso-aged barrel. The whiskey launched in May 2026 with a suggested retail price of $99.99.

  • A very good single malt. Last year’s was still the winner of the series for me, but this is different and fun. Lots of oloroso influence. A bit heavier on peat than previous editions but still very much sherry forward.

  • Nose:

Really interesting and complex nose. Hard to place. That dry, buttery Amontillado is here, but there’s also a big oloroso factor and a nice oatmeal raisin cookie note. Peat comes through in a brinier + more vegetal way. There’s a musky grape note that’s intriguing.

  • Taste:

Powerful palate. Moderate viscosity. Big-time oloroso influence. The peat is more prevalent here than on either of the previous two releases, but it’s not overpowering. It comes through in a pretty vegetal way. There’s a big salinity at play which works in concert with the sherry character, which is more on the vegetal side again, like the nose. Blood orange, plum.

  • Finish:

Lush, long finish Loads of sweet sherry influence — red grapes, plums, raisins, raspberry jam — leads into an earthier profile of tobacco, leather, basil and then a buttery conclusion that’s heavy on sticky syrupy PX sherry vibes.

  • Overall:

A very good single malt. The 2023 release was still the winner of the series for me, but this is different and fun. The incorporation of Oloroso is an interesting twist. A bit heavier on peat than previous editions but still very much sherry forward.
