Aber Falls Single Malt Welsh Whisky Inaugural Release is made at the first whisky distillery in North Wales in over 100 years. The whisky is made using 100% Welsh malted barley and rock-filtered water from the Aber Falls waterfall, distilled in a copper pot still and matured in a combination of American and European oak, Spanish sherry casks. It is bottled at 46% ABV and was priced at around $45.
Light-medium bodied. Flying Saucer sweets: orange and lime sherbet, with accompanying fizz, and rice paper. Fondant cables, yuzu and green notes reminiscent of shallot and cucumber.
A light and oily opening on the palate, with a creamier mouthfeel texture developing. Vanilla fudge sweetness shifts into sherried fruitcake, which then gives way to gentle barley spice and drying malt.
