Lost Lantern Warfield Idaho Single Malt is an American single malt whiskey from Warfield Distillery, a certified organic producer located outside Sun Valley, Idaho. It aged four years in used ex-bourbon barrels at a higher elevation than the highest point in Scotland. The release marks the first cask-strength bottling from Warfield and the first Idaho release from Lost Lantern.
It is rare but the abv for me was a bit too high on balance with the rest of the profile. A drop or two would go a long way in opening this one up. There are softer notes but at this proof they are short lived and harder to find, for me.
Marking the first time Lost Lantern has ever highlighted an Idaho distillery, Warfield Distilling Idaho Single Malt delivers an intriguing sip that isn’t afraid to highlight its barrel proof nature.
For many drinkers, this bottle will be the first word they hear about Warfield. It is a good introduction. Anyone who enjoys single malt will finish the glass eager to track down whatever the distillery releases next.
