Buchanan’s Green Seal is a blended Scotch whisky made in Scotland and imported by Diageo. Master Blender Craig Wallace created the blend around a previously unreleased single malt from Glen Elgin Distillery that was produced with an experimental wine yeast. The whisky is bottled at 40% ABV and sells for about $99.99.

  • Fans of unabashedly sweet Scotch whiskies will find Green Seal to be an easy, easy favorite. I won’t dare fault you for falling in love with it, even if in the final analysis it feels perhaps a bit single-minded.

House Review
  • Nose:

    Bright and zesty, with notes of white grape, unripe plum, and apple. A note reminiscent of Hershey's chocolate aroma lingers beneath the fruit. There is a hint of clove-like spice from that gives it a woody character.

  • Taste:

    Fruit-forward and lightly sweet, with bright notes of orange and lemon peel adding a fresh citrus lift. The acidic milk chocolate note remains and gives the whisky a sweeter quality with notes of caramel and teddy grahams rounding it out.

  • Finish:

    Baking spice and light oak linger alongside notes of caramel and baked apple. The finish leans sweeter than some other Scotch whiskies, but the sweetness remains measured rather than overpowering.

  • Overall:

    Buchanan's Green Seal is an approachable, fruit-forward Scotch that highlights a brighter, sweeter side of the category.
