In November 2025, Maestro Dobel expanded its lineup with a Tahona Blanco, the first in brand history to make use a volcanic stone tahona, rather than a roller mill, for liquid extraction. The expression is distilled from 100% Blue Weber agave, water and wild ambient yeast "with nothing added," per the news release, and is bottled at 40.5% ABV. All profits (MSRP: $47.99) are being donated to the the local Jalisco community and education efforts in the town of Tequila, Mexico.
The bottling represents a noticeable change of pace for Becle, the agave spirits giant behind Dobel, Jose Cuervo, 1800 and countless other best-selling brands on the market. There are a lot of firsts here that Becle hasn't touched before, and it's a telling sign of 2025 tequila trends that a Tahona Blanco could get a push from the biggest company in the game.

Soft and creamy on the nose with a gentle, well-rounded sweetness. Hints of flower petals, orange and peach flesh. It's all bundled up in an incredibly buttery aroma, almost reminds me of clotted cream.
Nice agave presence. Not roasty, per se, but silky and a little tropical. Flashes of guava, tangerine, grassiness and, once again, that unmistakable butter note. I'd liken it to a croissant this time around. For a tequila bottled at 40.5% ABV, it's got a pretty great mouthfeel too.
Cooked agave and black pepper pick up on the backend, goes down without a hitch.
Pleasantly surprising stuff! The tahona crushed difference is definitely noticeable, lending a smooth, softly sweet edge that places this well above other tequilas in its price range. Interested to see how Becle experiments with other possibilities down the line.
