  • A rock solid, pleasant whiskey. It's not crazy complex, but it's sweet, rich and approachable.

  • At 97 proof there is nothing at all punchy about this batch of the 10 Year Old, and in fact it ends up feeling almost too delicate — even without comparing to the 12 and the 14.

  • Nose:

Caramel, banana pudding, oak, clove-studded orange pomander, cherry cola, macademia, molasses

  • Taste:

Moderate mouthfeel with a lovely, rich flavor profile. Oak, cherry, peanut brittle, banana nut muffins, vanilla custard. It's classic Jack Daniel's in flavor, but dialed up a bit and definitely enhanced by 10 years of aging.

  • Finish:

Medium finish with char, peanut shells, vanilla cake, more cherry cola and a touch of bitter oak.

  • Overall:

A rock solid, pleasant whiskey. It's not crazy complex, but it's sweet, rich and approachable.

  • Score:

    88
