The Robb Report shared on Monday that the Angel’s Envy Founder, Wes Henderson, launched a new whiskey brand called True Story Whiskey. The debut whiskeys are a cask-finished bourbon and rye that are set to officially drop on October 10. Since finishes are Angel’s Envy’s calling card, it’s no surprise both whiskeys host distinctive cask finishes.

The bourbon features a cask finish of white Moscatel casks and the rye features a finish of an eclectic combination of casks including: Pedro Ximenez, Oloroso Sherry and Brazilian Amburana Wood. Whisky Advocate reported that the bourbon is sourced from unnamed Kentucky distilleries and spent 5 to 6 years aging in charred oak prior to finishing for a half a year in Moscatel barrels. It hosts a 45% ABV and a suggested retail price of $60.

The outlet reported that True Story’s rye whiskey features a slightly elevated suggested retail price of $70. It is a blend of sourced ryes 5 to 8 years of age and was finished in that mixture of Pedro Ximenez, Oloroso and Amburana. The rye’s ABV is 50% and both whiskeys will be available for purchase within the states of Kentucky and Tennessee.

True Story is helmed by Henderson and his six sons, which is fitting since Henderson co-founded Angel’s Envy with his father.

“We founded True Story to create a space where people can ‘pull up a chair,’ share a drink and connect over stories,” Henderson expressed to The Robb Report. “Whether you’re a seasoned whiskey drinker or new to the experience, we believe every bottle holds a unique story waiting to be told.”

Whisky Advocate reported that though True Story is exclusively sourced, Henderson claims that isn’t meant to be forever.

The Angel’s Envy Co-Founder purchased a 150-acre site in Versailles, Kentucky in August. One of the more notable landmarks on the property is the Kentucky Castle, a boutique hotel set in a castle that was built half a century ago. Whisky Advocate reported that Henderson intends to build True Story’s distillery on the site.
