STV News reported on Tuesday that Rod Stewart was spotted at a local Tesco in Scotland picking up a bottle of his very own brand, Wolfie’s Whisky. The rocker and winner of multiple Grammys posed for photographs with the staff after the brand closed a deal with Tesco stores in the United Kingdom.
“It’s just wonderful to see Wolfie’s in pride of place here at Tesco,” Stewart said. “I’m delighted to think it’s even easier for people to pick up a bottle of Wolfie’s and it’s been lovely speaking to the team here in Bishop’s Stortford to see what they thought of it. They certainly have a taste for the good stuff.”
On Jan. 16, a complaint filed against Wolfie’s Whisky — claiming it was designed to appeal to children and encourage “irresponsible consumption” — was dismissed.
The label, which features a cartoon wolf and reads “Rascal of a thing,” which apparently raised concerns it would encourage criminal activity.
Ultimately, the complaint was dismissed, as the wolf was described as “friendly” and “cheeky,” implying that the word “rascal” was meant to imply a playfully mischievous nature over encouraging criminal activity.
It appears the trajectory of the scotch whisky brand with a suggested retail price of £35 ($43.85) is on the up and up, and the brand has obtained the major retail placement within the first seven months of going to market. Wolfie’s Whisky has hit the shelves of over 400 Tesco stores, and the retailer is the only major retail store to have the whisky on its shelves.
“This marks a huge milestone for the brand and the first of many things that we are hoping to achieve in 2024,” Wolfie’s Whisky co-founder Duncan Few said, according to STV news.
