A 55-Year-Old Scotch and Infinity Rum Highlight Sazerac-Owned Independent Bottler The Last Drop’s 2024 Collection

On Monday, The Last Drop unveiled the London brand’s 2024 collection, which features two extended-age scotch whiskies and a blended rum. The bottler claims the spirits celebrate the three facets of spirit-making: production, experimentation and innovation.

The 2024 collection comprises a 40-year-old single malt scotch from the Auchentoshan Distillery, a 55-year-old single malt scotch from Tomintoul Distillery and a 22-year-old infinity rum blend. The collection will be released on a limited basis in May, and the bottles come in 700- and 50-milliliter formats.

The Sazerac-owned independent bottler is known to release eclectic and highly sought-after spirits. In 2022, The Last Drop unveiled a release that included a Japanese blended malt whisky that hosted a suggested retail price of £4,200 ($5,222) a bottle.

Release No. 34 — The Last Drop 40 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky from the Auchentoshan Distillery

Auchentoshan Distillery’s claim to fame is that it is the only distillery in Scotland to distill its spirit three times, according to the brand. The purpose of this is to produce a refined and delicate final whisky. With a suggested retail price of $5,300 and a proof of 89.6, this whisky is described as possessing aromas of fruitcake, stewed raisins and dark fruit. The palate is full of rich black cherries, herbaceous cut grass and florals. The whisky concludes with a soft and deeply complicated finish. Just 72 bottles exist.

Release No. 35 — The Last Drop 22 Year Old ‘Infinitum Rum Blend’

This international “infinity rum” is a blend of rums from Jamaica, Trinidad, Barbados, Venezuela, Guadeloupe, Brazil, Fiji and Guyana. The rum was sealed in oak rum casks and rested for 22 years, and just 132 bottles are available for purchase. The brand claims this rich rum “oozes sweetness” and has spicy nutmeg aromas interlaced with orange marmalade and cedarwood. The palate has plenty of tropical spices and leather. The rum concludes with dry white pepper. The Last Drops Infinitum Rum Blend hosts a suggested retail price of $3,100 and clocks in at 106.2 proof.

Release No. 36 — The Last Drop 55 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky From the Tomintoul Distillery

Tomintoul was less than 5 years old during the production of this scotch, which took place in the 1960s. The scotch aged for over 53 years in oak casks and was married in an Amoroso sherry butt for 20 months — just 582 bottles are available. With a suggested retail price of $8,300 and a proof of 83.4, this whisky possesses aromas of hazelnuts, toffee and sweet oak. The palate has caramelized apples and spices aplenty and finishes with floral and dried fruit. The whisky has a suggested retail price of $8,300 and clocks in at 83.4 proof.
