Tamdhu announced on Wednesday the release of two single malt whiskies: Dalbeallie Dram VII and Dedication Society Single Cask Vintage 2003. The releases landed just in time for the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival, which takes place in May.
“The Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival is a yearly highlight of the Tamdhu calendar,” Tamdhu Distillery Manager Sandy McIntyre said in a news release. “It brings together whisky lovers across the globe to visit the world-renowned distilleries and witness the stunning landscapes that Speyside has to offer. We’re excited to unveil two new exclusive launches for this year’s festival. The Dalbeallie Series is always a favorite with our Tamdhu family and we’re confident the seventh one will be no exception.
“We’re also very pleased to introduce the ultra-rare expression chosen by our Dedication Society. It’s a stunning dram which we’ll be celebrating with the society’s members themselves.”
One of Tamdhu’s latest releases is dedicated to the historic Dalbeallie station, which was built in 1899. The train station played an important role in the shaping of the Speyside scotch brand and brought barley, passengers and sherry casks from Spain to Speyside, according to the brand.
Just 1,000 bottles were made of this whisky, and it was bottled at an ABV of 61.8%. The whisky was matured in Oloroso sherry casks before it was non-chill-filtered and bottled. Dalbeallie Dram VII hosts a suggested retail price of £100 ($126).
Tamdhu’s Dedication Society Single Cask Vintage 2003 hosts a suggested retail price of £379 ($476) and a 55% ABV. The whisky was created by 15 members who were chosen from a lottery to visit the distillery in August and taste through hand-selected single casks. Members ended up choosing a European Oak Butt from cask 5986. Just 568 bottles will be available for this release.
These latest scotch whiskies follow Tamdhu’s limited release that dropped in October: Quercus Alba Distinction III. The whisky was aged in white oak harvested from North American forests before being transported to Spain.
Once they arrived in Spain, the staves air-dried in the Mediterranean climate, were toasted and Oloroso sherry-seasoned before taking a trip to Speyside.
