Glenmorangie Buys Islay Hotel With Goal of Creating ‘World-Class Whisky and Hospitality Experience’

Scotch whisky distillery Glenmorangie has purchased the Islay Hotel, a 13-room hotel that sits close to Ardbeg distillery, which Glenmorangie owns. The brand intends to use the property to create “a world-class whisky and hospitality experience.”

According to Scottish newspaper The Herald, the purchase is a multi-million-pound investment with its modern upgrades and views of the ocean.
“This was a rare opportunity to acquire an island hotel built to modern, high-quality standards, with sustainability at the forefront,” Gary Witham, hotels director at Christie & Co, the property adviser handling the sale said, according to The Herald. “The superb vision of the original developers has translated well for LVMH, a major luxury conglomerate, demonstrating the island’s position as a prime Scottish tourist location, and it’s fantastic that a local company operated by the group will be taking the hotel forward.”
