‘Here’s to the Next 200 Years!’: The Glenlivet Celebrates Bicentennial With Limited Release

On Tuesday, Whisky Magazine reported that The Glenlivet is celebrating its bicentennial. To commemorate this milestone, the scotch whisky brand is releasing The Glenlivet 200 Year Anniversary Limited Edition 12 Years Old. The whisky is available for purchase at The Whisky Exchange for £51.95 ($66).

The artwork was selected for the label via a crowdsourced campaign meant to find label art demonstrating the spirit of The Glenlivet’s mission of “forever moving forwards.” The winning label was created by Studio Berdi from Colombia.

This Speyside scotch whisky brand with a history dating back to 1824 has collaborated with multiple artists throughout its legacy. In November, the Glenlivet tapped the South Asian artist, Bibhu Mohapatra, to create a bespoke haute couture gown which the brand described as a “visual manifesto” of The Glenlivet’s goal to break down barriers. The collaboration was meant to celebrate the holiday Diwali.

With 200 years of history, The Glenlivet definitely has a lot to celebrate. The scotch whisky brand released this limited-edition expression to kick things off, but it appears the brand just might be partying all year long.

“This year is an important landmark anniversary for The Glenlivet as we look forward towards the next 200 years,” Chivas Brothers Marketing Director Jayne Murphy said, according to Whisky Magazine. “Since our founder George Smith introduced Speyside single malt whisky to the world in 1824, we’ve been committed to challenging conventions and will continue to craft the future of single malt whisky while setting new and uncharted standards of excellence. We extend a heartfelt invitation to everyone to join us in raising a dram with our celebratory limited-edition 12-year-old and we look forward to the celebrations to come throughout the year. Here’s to the next 200 years!”
