Highland scotch whisky distillery Glengoyne is offering free whisky and distillery tours in exchange for pledges to volunteer to help protect the wetlands.

Glengoyne will give a complimentary bottle of Glengoyne 15 Year Old whisky and a tour to selected fans of the whisky brand who pledge one volunteering day. The day must be with the United Kingdom wetland conservation charity Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust. WWT and Glengoyne have a longstanding partnership.

Volunteers will spend their time coppicing trees, clearing vegetation and removing invasive plant species to create biodiverse wetland habitats.

“The environment is at the heart of everything we do, and our 11-year partnership with WWT is testament to this,” Katy Muggeridge, brand director at Ian Macleod Distillers, which owns Glengoyne, said, according to The Spirits Business. “In launching the 15 Year Old, we wanted to give back to the beautiful ecosystem that allows us to produce our single malt. So, by donating just one day of your time to WWT, whisky fans will be able to help protect carbon-capturing wetlands, aid the conservation of migratory geese, and take home a bottle of this excellent new dram.”

Those hoping to be chosen can sign up to the initiative by visiting Glengoyne’s website.

Glengoyne constantly show such vocal support for the importance of wetlands, and thanks to this support we’ve been able to show how much these green spaces can do for people and the planet in our fight against climate change,” Georgie Cox, WWT corporate partnerships manager, said, according to The Spirits Business. “We’re proud to call them our partners and are excited to turn whisky enthusiasts into wetland enthusiasts as well.”

Bottled at 86 proof, Glengoyne 15 was aged in bourbon and sherry casks. The whisky was released in October.
