On Tuesday, The Moodie Davitt Report announced that Benriach released a new travel-retail exclusive expression — and it’s a quarter-century old. Just 1,000 9-liter cases are available for this release from the Brown-Forman-Owned brand. The Spirits Business reports that it has a suggested retail price of $380.
“The Benriach Triple Distilled 25 Years Old exemplifies our dedication to offering unique and exceptional whiskies to our global travelers,” Brown-Forman Marketing Director GTR Stéphane Morizet said, according to The Moodie Davitt Report. “This limited-edition release represents a refined and elegant single malt, expertly blended to showcase the rich spice and complexity that a quarter century of maturation imparts.”
The whisky is triple distilled and was blended from batches aged in Bourbon, Virgin Oak and Oloroso Sherry casks. Benriach describes the pour as possessing a nose of “sticky toffee walnuts” and “manuka honey,” coupled with a palate of “warming oak spice and fine soft leather, supporting flavors of nectarine and oloroso sherry.”
Benriach’s travel portfolio currently has the following whiskies: Triple Distilled 10 Years Old, Quarter Cask and Smoky Quarter Cask. This latest expression will be available as long as supplies last. The Benriach is a Speyside producer that dates back to 1898. According to the brand, it produces three styles of whisky: unpeated, Highland peated and triple distilled. Master blender Dr. Rachel Barrie — known for her work at The GlenDronach and The Glenglassaugh — guides the process.
In August, Benriach unveiled the third edition of a single malt made from the distillery’s floor maltings, Benriach Malting Season Third Edition. The brand claims it is one of the eight scotch whisky producers that still practice this historic tradition.
“Matured for a quarter century, Benriach Triple Distilled Aged 25 Years is an exceptionally rare whisky, showcasing the exquisite complexity and creativity of the Benriach Distillery,” Barrie said, according to The Moodie Davitt Report.
