Ballantine’s is paying homage to AC/DC with its latest scotch whisky release, the Brave Words reported in September. The band, known for hits like “Highway to Hell” and “Back In Black,” is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year, and the scotch whisky brand’s latest release as part of its True Music Icons Collection coincides with the major milestone.
The True Music Icons Collection is a joint venture meant to celebrate artists the Ballantine’s brand believes defined rock music.
Ballantine also released an expression celebrating the legendary rock band Queen in September.
In a promotional video, the brand describes the AC/DC release as a “tribute to a timeless icon.” The bright red bottle hosts the band’s signature lightning bolt design, with a distinctive black and white label.
“We can’t wait to put the B into AC/DC with this collectible design and see it rocking shelves around the world,” Chivas Brothers Global Marketing Director for Ballantine’s Mathieu Deslandes said, according to Brave Words. “Ballantine’s has always been behind those who do things their own way – and AC/DC personify this attitude with their unique and highly renowned music style that has remained the steadfast essence of the band for 50 years.”
The expression will be available as long as supplies last for the suggested retail price of $30 on The Whisky Exchange.
To celebrate the whisky’s launch, Ballantine’s offered a recipe for the Dark & Thunderstruck, which is a riff on the Kentucky mule. The recipe can be viewed below.
