Redemption Sur Lee Straight Rye Whiskey, produced by MGP in Indiana and bottled by Redemption, features a mash bill of 95% rye and 5% barley. It is aged using a method inspired by the French winemaking technique Sur Lie, which involves adding "whiskey lees" to the barrels and periodically rotating them.
I liked the experiment here and hope they continue improving off this idea. I'd like to see something with a bit older age statement, I think a robust rye would be complimented by the yeast more than this young lower proof offering.
