On Monday, Bardstown Bourbon Company announced the latest whiskey release in its Collaborative Series – a collab with with Amrut Distillery, one of India’s premier whisky brands. According to Beverage Dynamics, The whiskey clocks in at 110 proof and hosts a suggested retail price of $159.99 for a 750-milliliter bottle.

“Amrut is creating some beautiful liquid right now,” Bardstown Bourbon Co. Vice President of Product Development Dan Callaway said, per Beverage Dynamics. “Their use of malted barley, distilled and aged in a warm, humid climate is such an interesting bridge between Scottish whiskey and bourbon. It’s fascinating to see how our rye blend absorbed characteristics of both the peated and unpeated Amrut barrels, resulting in a unique depth of flavor and character. We then created a custom bourbon blend to join the finished rye and bring red fruit and rich caramel. The result is an authentic collaboration bursting with new flavors.”

As for this latest release within Bardstown’s Collaborative Series, The Amrut offering is a blend of Indiana rye whiskeys aged in Amrut Single Malt barrels for a year and a half. After, the liquid was blended with aged Kentucky bourbons.

Bardstown and Amrut describe the whiskey as possessing aromas of “baked cherry, campfire and vanilla,” coupled with “cinnamon and herbal tea.”

The release kicks of Bardstown Bourbon Co.’s 2024 Collaborative Series, which will continue with two more releases. The Amrut expression will be followed by whiskeys made in collaboration with Napa Valley winery Silver Oak and the Tennessee brewery Blackberry Farm, which will release later this summer and in the fall, respectively.

Amrut is one of the more popular Indian single malt brands and is putting the country on the map as a burgeoning player within the global whiskey industry. If you want to hear what we thought about their Cask Strength Single Malt, you can read our review here.
