On Thursday, Beyoncé shared an Instagram post that showed the “Texas Hold ‘Em” songstress was out and about at a whisky tasting in Japan, enjoying rare whiskies from Suntory-owned brands like Yamazaki.
In a video post, she shared footage of multiple Glencairn glasses filled with whiskies from expressions of prestigious Japanese brands including Yamazaki and Hakushu 18 Year. Multiple bottles labeled “Mystery” were also included in the lineup.
Beyoncé appears to be a fan of Yamazaki, as she has referenced the celebrated whisky brand in multiple songs. On “6 Inch,” which featured The Weeknd, she sang “She got that Sake, her Yamazaki straight from Tokyo.” On the collab album between Beyoncé’s and her husband, Jay-Z, “EVERYTHING IS LOVE,” Beyoncé referenced “sipping Yamazaki on the rocks” on the track “LOVEHAPPY.”
It appears the singer’s love of Yamazaki is a longstanding one. In September 2015, The Daily Mail reported that Beyoncé enjoyed some Yamazaki 18 Year Old Single Malt on the rocks after indulging in an expensive bottle of the Italian super Tuscan, Sassicaia during a lavish dinner date.
Yamazaki is one of the more prestigious brands of whisky in the world, and the brand has a lengthy history behind it. In May 2023, The House of Suntory celebrated Yamazaki’s 100th anniversary with fanfare that lasted all year long.
The brand rolled out two limited-edition releases: Yamazaki 18 Year Old Mizunara and Hakushu 18 Year Old Peated Malt. The 18-year-old Yamazaki expression hosted a suggested retail price of $1,500. The Hakushu Peated Malt was set to retail at $1,200 per bottle.
We were fortunate enough to get the chance to review the Yamazaki 18-Year-Old 100th Anniversary whisky, and we weren’t disappointed. If you want to know what we thought, you can read our review here.
