On Thursday, Teeling Irish Whiskey announced the first release in its “Phoenix Series,” a limited-edition 24-year-old single malt Irish whiskey.

The first bottling in the series, Legends, is being released to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Notre Dame University’s first consensus football National Championship. Notre Dame was coached by Knute Rockne at the time and finished the year with an undefeated record, beating the also unbeaten Stanford 27-10 in the Rose Bowl.

According to Teeling, the Phoenix Series will comprise three releases that celebrate Notre Dame. Bottled at 92 proof, Teeling Phoenix Legends has a suggested retail price of $500 and is limited to 1,000 bottles.

This isn’t the first bottling Teeling has released for Notre Dame, but it’s by far the oldest, priciest and most prestigious.

Legends is finished in Rivesaltes casks sourced from the eponymous region of France known for its fortified wines.
